I live in NW Ohio and have a pond that is seeping to a level I don't like. I'm sure I could drain the pond and have the banks rebuilt to hold water better. I really don't want to do that and am looking for a better idea. The area I live in is primarily clay ground with some sand veins running through it. I have another pond on my property that holds water very well. The pond with the seepage problem was just not built as well. The pond is down about 3-4 feet from where I think it should be.

My question is: What would be the best process to stop the seepage?

Thank you for your post.

If your desire is to not drain your pond and reduce the amount of water lost to seepage, I would suggest that you consider ESS-13 Waterborne formulation as an option. ESS-13 Waterborne formulation is simply poured/pumped into existing ponds, and typically reduces seepage by 60%-90%. We would need to know more details about your specific pond and what your current loss rates are in order to determine the potential effectiveness of a ESS-13 Waterborne formula application or discuss one of our other sealing methods. I would encourage you to call our office and speak directly with one of our Technical Sales Associates to discuss how we can help seal your pond.

Seepage Control, Inc. has been in business since 1958, we are the trusted and proven solution! ESS-13 products are designed to be permanent and have been used to seal everything from very small back-yard ponds to large lakes in excess of 250 acres.

If you have additional questions, feel free to email me directly or re-post so that others may benefit from our discussion.
